We enjoy providing opportunities for our students to shine! Holy Angels Academy students participate in the following South Carolina Independent Schools Association and National competitions:
SCISA Battle of the Books – Selected students compete in a statewide team competition that tests their knowledge on selected novels.
SCISA Quiz Bowl – Selected students compete in a statewide team competition that tests their knowledge in all academic areas.
SCISA History Day – Students complete a comprehensive historical project based on a theme provided by the National History Day Competition. The winners of the school fair go on to represent our school in the statewide SCISA competition.
SCISA Literary Meet – Selected students choose to participate in one of the following categories: Essay, Extemporaneous Speaking, Oral Interpretation, Poetry Recitation, or Storytelling.
SCISA Science Fair – Students complete a science project utilizing the scientific method and experimentation rather than merely doing research or building a model. The winners of the school fair go on to represent our school in the statewide SCISA competition.
SCISA Spelling Bee – Students participate in the state Spelling Bee competition. Students who compete at the SCISA level are chosen based on performance in their classroom’s spelling bee.
We also offer the opportunity to excel in the following competitions:
National Geographic Bee – Students in grades four through six are eligible to participate in this entertaining and challenging test of knowledge prepared by the National Geographic Society.
Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Patriot Pen Essay Contest – Students proudly describe the reasons for their patriotism based on the essay topics provided each year by the VFW.
Zaner-Bloser National Handwriting Contest – The Zaner-Bloser National Handwriting Contest recognizes outstanding manuscript and cursive writing among students in grades K–6. Our students demonstrate their best handwriting in this competition.
